MOT
Your MOT is a legal requirement once your car reaches three years old, and driving without a valid certificate can result in a fine as well as points on your licence. Collect Service Go carries out MOT testing for classes 4, 5, and 7, covering cars, larger passenger vehicles, and vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
If you’re not sure which class applies to your vehicle, let us know the registration when you book, and we’ll confirm it for you.
Our testers check your vehicle against the same national standards used across the industry, covering areas such as lights, brakes, tyres, steering, emissions, and structural condition. The test itself usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes, though this can run longer if your car fails and needs a closer look at the issue.
If your car doesn’t pass first time, we’ll talk you through exactly what needs fixing and why, along with your options for getting it done. Many failures relate to minor, inexpensive items such as bulbs or worn wiper blades, and we can usually carry out the necessary repairs on site so you’re not left driving around without a valid certificate for longer than necessary.
Send us an enquiry with your vehicle’s registration and we’ll get your test booked in at a time that suits you. If your current MOT is due to expire, it’s worth booking ahead of the deadline so you’re not caught out.
MOT pricing depends on the class of vehicle being tested. Get in touch with your registration and we’ll confirm the exact cost before you book.
No, it’s illegal to drive a car without a valid MOT certificate, except when travelling to a pre-booked MOT test itself, and you’ll need to be able to show evidence of that booking if asked.
A standard MOT takes between 45 and 60 minutes. If your car fails, it will usually take longer depending on the fault and whether it needs further investigation.
We’ll explain what’s failed and why, and give you the option to have the work carried out with us so your car passes on retest. Nothing is fixed without your agreement first.
This depends on the nature of the repair and how quickly it’s carried out. We’ll let you know the retest terms at the time, based on what your car needs.
Most drivers book a few weeks before their current certificate expires, which gives enough time to sort any repairs without risking a gap in cover. You can book up to a month before the expiry date without losing any of the remaining time on your certificate.
We’re proud to hold RAC Approved status, alongside accreditation from Trust a Trader and Trust My Garage. These provide independent recognition of the standards we work to, so you don’t just have to take our word for it.
