Your MOT is a legal requirement once your car reaches three years old, and driving without a valid certificate can result in a fine as well as points on your licence. Collect Service Go carries out MOT testing for classes 4, 5, and 7, covering cars, larger passenger vehicles, and vans up to 3.5 tonnes.

Which MOT class does my vehicle need?

• Class 4 covers most cars, as well as motorcaravans and light vans
• Class 5 covers larger passenger vehicles, such as minibuses
• Class 7 covers goods vehicles and vans between 3,000kg and 3,500kg, tested on our commercial ramp

What happens during the test

Our testers check your vehicle against the same national standards used across the industry, covering areas such as lights, brakes, tyres, steering, emissions, and structural condition. The test itself usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes, though this can run longer if your car fails and needs a closer look at the issue.

If your car fails

If your car doesn’t pass first time, we’ll talk you through exactly what needs fixing and why, along with your options for getting it done. Many failures relate to minor, inexpensive items such as bulbs or worn wiper blades, and we can usually carry out the necessary repairs on site so you’re not left driving around without a valid certificate for longer than necessary.
